Heavy showers expected across Kenya this week, says weatherman

Nairobi and several regions across Kenya will experience continued rainfall this week, predicts the Kenya Meteorological Department.
From Tuesday, March 25, 2025 to March 31, 2025 , showers are expected in Nairobi, parts of the Rift Valley, Southeastern lowlands, and the highlands East and West of the Rift Valley.
While some areas may experience occasional dry spells, daytime temperatures are predicted to reach 30°C, with nighttime lows of 10°C in the Central Highlands and Central Rift Valley.
The ongoing long rains, which began earlier this month, will continue through the week, bringing more frequent rainfall to the Rift Valley and Southeastern lowlands.
The rains are typical of the March-April-May long rains season, which generally begin in mid-March and extends into May.
The highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Southeastern lowlands are expected to experience heavy rainfall, while the Northeastern region, which had a delayed start to the long rains, will receive consistent showers.
However, periods of dry weather may follow in some areas.
Daytime temperatures are expected to hit 30°C in the Coast, Northeastern, and Northwestern regions, while the cooler Central Highlands and Central Rift Valley will see temperatures drop to 10°C at night.
In addition, the weather patterns in the Northwestern and coastal regions may shift slightly, with occasional rainfall expected. However, this may not meet the official criteria for the full onset of the season’s rains.
As the weather remains dynamic, the Kenya Meteorological Department urges the public to stay informed and prepared as conditions may change throughout the week.
